Session 2: Transatlantic SMR Design Overview and Progress Review

Overview conversation of SMR and advanced reactor designs from the U.S. and EU with information about each design that is expected to be deployed within 10 years. Overview provided by general specialists from each region and companies who have designs discussed can be on hand to answer questions. The session will discuss how public policy, including tax and fiscal policy, can make next-generation nuclear deployments more cost-effective. Additionally, the session will explore how cooperation between industry and policymakers can support new deployments.

Session 6: Case Study: U.S. Industrial Partnerships, X-Energy and DOW

This session will be a fireside chat with X-Energy and Dow to discuss their partnership on the application of SMRs to industrial processes.  X-energy will collaborate with Dow on the intent to deploy a high-temperature gas reactor to provide not only the electricity that is critical to its operations but also carbon-free, cost-competitive process heat to one of Dow’s U.S. Gulf Coast facilities.

This panel will focus on methods of de-risking projects in their earliest stages of development with this group of experienced nuclear companies focusing on new SMR deployment.
